How to Earn a Free Vacation in Las Vegas

It’s winter time and my thoughts do go astray in winter. It brings to mind taking a vacation. For me that vacation just has to be someplace warm, a lot warmer then central NJ in winter! So with that thought in mind, and a reminder of what a frugal genius I am, I’m planning a vacation in Las Vegas this year and my hotel and entertainment, food, and everything except the airfare is going to be free! Yes, I said it…free!

My wife and I like to do some "frugal gambling" and while our wins are generally small, being able to take a free vacation in las vegas is a huge perk.

You may recall back in July 2015 I wrote a post about frugal casino gambling and our occasional trips to Atlantic City to “spend” some fun time there with my wife.

NEW *Updated* List of 100+ Amazing Senior Discounts

Today is August 31, 2018 and I have just updated my Super Saving Tips senior discounts list effective right now so it’s bigger and better than ever. Bonus: You don’t have to be 65+ to take advantage of a lot of these discounts as many retailers and services recognize 50 as the line for discounting to “seniors”. I love AARP: If you are the spouse of an AARP card holder (who is age 50+), you can get the discounts they offer no matter what your age. My own wife at 48 gets them!

I've updated my comprehensive list of senior discounts, with everything from dining to groceries and shopping to travel. For many, you don't have to be 65!

Many of your favorite places to shop and dine are offering these special discounts. Regardless of whether you feel like eating fast food or a steak dinner, shopping at high end specialty stores or major discount operations, keep this list handy but do keep in mind that these deals may vary based on location. Oh, and don’t forget to ask for the discounts! You may not ever be proactively offered discounts just because you are standing in line at the checkout, so ask!

Tipping Guidelines – Are There Really Any Rules?

There’s a tricky subject out there that many people fear to talk about with their friends and family. No, I’m not talking about the usual controversial stuff like sex, politics, or religion here. I’m talking about the subject of tips and tipping! Believe me when I tell you it’s a subject that you deal with pretty often and it involves so many different angles for you, your family, and of course to the people with whom you are interacting, the “tippees”. So today I’m going to cover my tipping guidelines.

Tipping can be a very confusing and even controversial subject, so here, along with some tipping history, are my tipping guidelines for all sorts of situations.

I can honestly say that this is a subject that can cause friction and even arguments for some and lots of second guessing and confusion for others. That’s why today, I’m asking out loud this question: “Are there really any rules for tipping?”Continue reading“Tipping Guidelines – Are There Really Any Rules?”

Every year I get calls, e-mails, and texts asking me, “Hey Gary, when is the best time to get deals on stuff this summer?” Well the answer to that question is starting right now! Summer sales season has already begun, believe it or not, despite the fact that summer only officially began just a week ago.
