As I mentioned in my blogiversary post, I’m going to be involved in some new opportunities to expand my connections and this blog. This week marks the beginning of two of those activities, and I’d like to share some details with you.
Joining the Yakezie Challenge
Starting today, I’m excited to tell you that I joined the Yakezie Challenge. If you’re a personal finance blogger, you’ve likely heard of it (or are already a member), but for anyone who hasn’t, the Yakezie Network is a group of personal finance and lifestyle bloggers who help their readers live better financially. They work together to maintain dedicated, high quality blogs in the personal finance sphere and that’s a goal to which I hope to contribute.
For the Challenge, I am committing to a 6-month period where I will build relationships with existing members and monitor my Alexa ranking. Alexa is a dynamic ranking system in which each website is assigned a numerical value with 1 being the most highly ranked. It is based on the activity of users who download the Alexa toolbar. To be accepted into the Yakezie Network, I need to improve my ranking from its current value (3,274,258) to under 200,000 within the 6-month timeframe.
It will be quite a challenge to achieve (I’ve got a long ways to go) but I’m looking forward to the process and working with a lot of amazing bloggers. And now when you notice this badge on my site, you’ll know exactly what it means.
Participating in Phroogal’s The Road to Financial Wellness
This Thursday evening, June 4th, I have the privilege of being one of the speakers at the local Elizabeth, NJ stop of Phroogal’s The Road to Financial Wellness tour. It will be an epic 30 stops in 30 days, zig-zagging across the U.S. from Maine to Los Angeles. This local, online and social media campaign across America will raise financial awareness through direct conversations with people. It will include financial experts, bloggers and educators, financial institutions, technology companies, political figures, and most importantly of all, you! Tickets are free, so don’t miss it. If you can’t make it in person, be sure to check it out online, including here on Super Saving Tips this Thursday.
I’m really excited to start off June with a bang! Thanks for reading, and I hope you’ll check back for tomorrow’s regularly scheduled post.
